MIchael Maier

Michael Maier is a German painter/digital artist now based in Barcelona, Spain.His work is a combination of painting,collage and graffiti based on his own hermetic universe of symbols. Having no art training, he never tries to deal with the real world through drawing .He is obsessed with deconstructing the images and language of his fragmented inner world.

Michael Maier presents his work at the New York Showdown Competition in partnership with the SCOPE Art Show

The Scope New York Showdown will select 4 winners, announced on Saturday, February 12th, who will each receive a cash prize of US $500 and invited to showcase their work in the Saatchi Online booth at SCOPE New York from March 2nd – March 6th 2011 at the Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park. In addition to the Showdown winners, 14 Saatchi Online artists, selected by Rebecca Wilson, associate director of the Saatchi Gallery in London, will be showing their work at the fair. All the works will be for sale.

This year SCOPE will feature galleries from four continents and twenty countries including China, Mexico, Japan, Korea, Brazil, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Spain, and Canada. SCOPE New York’s galleries will uphold its unique tradition of solo and thematic group shows presented alongside museum-quality programming, collector tours, screenings, and special events.

With art fairs in Miami, Basel, New York, London, and the Hamptons, SCOPE Art Show has garnered critical acclaim, with sales of over $100 million and attendance of over 300,000 visitors. SCOPE is the largest and most international contemporary art fair in the world and SCOPE New York 2011 will be no different.
